This little guide, published by Pooley’s, is a great accompaniment to the gift of a trial lesson. Written in a very clear and non-technical style to suit complete beginners, experienced flight instructor Ruth Downey covers all the essentials of a first helicopter lesson and includes some more advanced topics such as the functions of the instruments, radio comms and where to go next if you decide to continue with your flying. Based on the Robinson R22, the helicopter type most commonly used for trial lessons. Plenty of colour photos and diagrams aid comprehension. 60 pages.
Robinson R22: A Pilot’s Guide – book by John Swan
A detailed guide to the Robinson R22, the most commonly used aircraft type for Private Pilot’s Licence training in the UK. This book expands on the content of the aircraft’s Flight Manual and the two read in conjunction will prepare you for your aircraft technical exam. It also covers many of the exercises of the Private Pilot’s Licence course and subjects such as weight and balance. Contains many black and white photos and diagrams. Published by AFE. 115 pages.
